Need Some Peace of Mind?

When we bought my car in 2004 I was so excited to be owning a new car.  I have never had a brand new car before, so it was just thrilling.  It came with the usual warranty- 3 years or 36,000 miles.  At the time we were doing a lot of driving to see Miss B and we put on the 36,000 miles very quickly.

Now 5 years later I don’t worry about it much.  We live in the area were our family is.  Plus my car has been very good for us.  We took of it, and it took care of us.  I just hope that it lasts a few more years, that would be great.  With the economy as bad as it is, we all need to take care of our stuff.

What to Buy for a Teen???

When I was a teenager the only thing I wanted for my birthday and for Christmas was clothes.  Now Miss B is 17 and she usually wants clothes too.  The problem with that is that she has 2 sets of parents, 4 sets of grandparents and all sorts of aunts and uncles.  It might be hard to imagine, but she can only use so many different outfits.

We don’t see Miss B as often as we used to, and if you read my blog then you know things have not been very great lately with her.  But, I do not believe in giving Christmas presents based on behavior, so I am still planning to spoil Miss B just like I always do.

An Even Bigger Idiot

I posted a little while ago about an idiotic parent I saw at the mall a couple of weeks ago.  Shortly after that I saw an even bigger idiotic parent.

There was a young couple (a very young couple… probably teenagers) with a little baby.  I’m not good at judging how old babies are but this baby was little- not yet sitting up on his own.  So, I saw the male (I don’t know if he was the father or just a boyfriend???) going to the top of the a very tall twisty slide.

(As a brief aside- I know that I am overprotective- but I don’t let Peanut go on those very tall twisty slides because she is always trying to turn her body around.  If she gets turned around and goes down all twisted she could end up hurt- so we stick to the toddler area, as I’m sure is intended by the creators of the equipment.)

So, I thought- wow that baby is little to be going down that slide.  Considering you’re supposed to be careful with babies necks and heads, etc.  I assumed the male was going to put the baby on his lap to go down the slide and even thought that seemed a little risky.

I was wrong.

The mother sat down at the bottom of the slide and said, “Now lay him down.  Make sure his head is on the slide.”

The male grinned and said, “I have no idea how to do this.”

The mother looked around proudly and said, “Just put him down and let him go.”

I’m pretty sure that my mouth hung open in shock as he let the baby go.  The baby looked scared to me, not like he enjoyed it at all.

I seriously considered calling child protective services but when I turned around they were gone.

Tis The Season

Christmas is quickly approaching.  There are so many things to take care of with the Christmas season on its way.  Just thinking about everything I need to makes me start to feel anxious.  I can barely get things done that I need to do on a normal day.  How in the world am I going to get everything done for the holidays?  I guess I’ll just stop sleeping.

Anyways- while it’s on my mind I’m going to write some of the things I need to do.  First of all- I need to make a list.  I love making lists and getting everything written down that I want to do.  That way I won’t forget anything.  Plus, crossing things off of my list gives me a sense of accomplishment.  One of the main things on my list will be to make a list of the people I am buying for and what I want to buy for them.  So, essentially I will be writing “make list” on my list.  Crazy, right?

One thing I do want to get taken care of right away is our Christmas cards.  I’d like to figure out what we want and order them.  That way when I have a few minutes here and there I can work on our cards.

Well, I’m off to work on my list.  How about you?  What do you need to get done?
